Okay, knowing that we are a D7 group associated Filipino students of Virgnia...
Why stick with all the events that are typically general to the public? I mean, we can have a bunch since it is the Olympics... but...
What about putting some Filipino games in the mix too? Why not try something different? (The whole "food-eating competition" is different. LOL.)
Games that we can do that are from the Philippines:
Sepak takraw - Volleyball game that only involves your feet. FILIPINOS AND THEIR DAMN FEET!
Palosebo - It involves a greased bamboo... well in this case... a pole... and people have to climb it in order to get to the top. ANYONE WANT TO DONATE A TINIKLING STICK?
Jai Alai - It's like racket ball that involves the wall... the opponent ties a wicker basket to his right hand. HELMETS ARE NEEDED!
Kolyahan ng Sarangola - Just kite fighting. Teams go head on and try to destroy their other opponents kite. A LITTLE ARTS AND CRAFTS EVENT.
Sipa - It's like hacky sack but the object in this game is a coin with colorful ribbons/thread attached to it and you have to keep kicking it to your opponents. NOSTALGIC.
All the other games that I know are basic children games, martial arts stuff, and the rest are typical general sports. There are also a few that involves teams which in this case could be something we might want to look into. So thats about it...
i like the idea of filipino games. we are cultural organizations so we might as well have some cultural games, but possibly with a twist? i dunno. im down for whatever. i already sent in an email what events i would like to see
